About

I am a Licensed Social Worker with over 15 years of experience helping people struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, and addiction. My passion is helping people walk through the everyday challenges we face. I provide new ways of thinking, coping, and navigating life's challenges while building a rapport and relationship with you.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered and Trauma-informed care. Through these interventions, I can help you identify your thoughts and emotions causing distress and develop new coping strategies to manage challenging emotions and behaviors.

I also offer services in Japanese. For my clients' convenience, I offer Sunday and weekday evening hours. Please contact us to schedule your initial appointment.

I am looking forward to working with you.

Makoto works out of the Stevenson and Reston locations.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs. I utilize evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed care. Yes. I provide counseling services in both English and Japanese. Being able to communicate in your preferred language can make therapy feel more comfortable and effective. Whether you choose to meet in English or Japanese, my goal is to provide a welcoming, culturally sensitive environment where you feel understood and supported throughout your treatment.
Yes. I understand that many people have busy work, school, or family schedules that make it difficult to attend appointments during traditional business hours. To make therapy more accessible, I offer Sunday appointments as well as weekday evening sessions. I see clients at our Stevenson and Reston offices, providing flexible scheduling options to help you prioritize your mental health.
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and discuss what has brought you to therapy. We'll explore your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals while answering any questions you have about the counseling process. My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable, supported, and empowered as we work together to develop practical tools for lasting emotional growth and well-being.
