About

She is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), a neurologic music therapist (NMT), and a resident in counseling (LPC-R) working under the supervision of Carissa Martin. She began her career after graduation, working closely with residents in a nursing home community outside Philadelphia. More recently, she worked as a Music Therapist with the partial hospitalization unit at a hospital on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.

Laura grew up in a family that enjoys music and helping others. Once she saw that Drexel had a dual degree program, she was able to fulfill her two dream jobs in one. She works from a humanistic perspective and uses music therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She uses mindfulness-based and strengths-based practices. As someone who navigates their mental health issues, she comes from a place of authenticity. Her methods stem from her personal experience as well as evidence-based practices.

Laura sees adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults. She enjoys working with people experiencing ADHD, adjustment disorder, anxiety, bipolar, bullying, depression, gender dysphoria, grief, self-esteem issues, spirituality issues, stress, suicidal ideation, and trauma.

Laura is an ally who works with LGBTQ+.

Frequently asked

Not at all! You don't need any musical experience or talent to participate in music therapy. Music can be a powerful tool for expressing emotions, reducing stress, improving emotional regulation, and processing difficult experiences. Depending on your goals, music therapy may involve listening to music, writing lyrics, discussing meaningful songs, or other music-based activities. I also integrate traditional talk therapy, so together we'll decide what approaches feel most comfortable and helpful for you.
I work with adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults experiencing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, grief, adjustment disorders, self-esteem challenges, stress, bullying, suicidal thoughts, spirituality concerns, and gender dysphoria. I strive to create a supportive, affirming environment where clients feel safe to explore their experiences and work toward meaningful change.
I take a humanistic, strengths-based approach to counseling, believing that every person has the capacity for growth and healing. I tailor therapy to each client's individual needs by incorporating evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and music therapy. Together, we'll build practical skills while exploring what matters most to you and helping you move toward the life you want to create.
I am proud to be an LGBTQ+ ally and strive to provide a welcoming, affirming space where clients can openly discuss their identities, relationships, and life experiences without fear of judgment. My goal is to support each person with compassion, respect, and evidence-based care while helping them navigate whatever challenges they may be facing.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, discuss your personal history, explore your goals, and identify what you'd like to accomplish through counseling. Whether we incorporate music therapy, traditional talk therapy, or a combination of approaches, we'll work together to create a treatment plan that feels personalized and supports your unique needs.
