About

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Independent Social Worker in VA and DC. I graduated from Radford University with my MSW in 2020 and during that time I completed a didactic training that focused on training students to provide mental health services for individuals with a dual diagnosis. I possess over 6 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the main driver of trying to create change within your life. I consider my clients to be the experts of their experiences as I walk alongside them. I want to help you discover your inner strengths to be able to thrive in life and not just survive.

I have worked in a variety of different settings such as inpatient hospitals, partial hospitalization programs, schools, and residential facilities.

I utilize a person-centered approach along with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and a strength-based approach.

I am a clinician who strives to create a safe environment where everyone can feel safe. If you are experiencing challenges, consider reaching out. I look forward to meeting with you.

Latrell works out of our Stevenson office.

Frequently asked

I work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges. My experience includes helping individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, life transitions, and co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. Having worked in inpatient hospitals, partial hospitalization programs, schools, and residential treatment settings, I understand that every person's journey is different and tailor treatment to each individual's unique needs.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of the healing process. My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, meaning I view you as the expert on your own life while I provide guidance, support, and evidence-based strategies. Depending on your goals, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you better understand your thoughts, manage emotions, and build healthier coping skills.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and discuss what has brought you to therapy. We'll explore your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals while answering any questions you have about the counseling process. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences and where we can begin developing a treatment plan that fits your individual needs.
Yes. During my graduate training, I completed specialized coursework focused on providing mental health treatment for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. This training, along with my experience in a variety of clinical settings, allows me to understand the complex relationship between mental health and substance use while providing compassionate, individualized care that addresses the whole person.
I believe every person has strengths they can build upon, even during difficult times. In therapy, we'll work together to identify those strengths while exploring the challenges that may be keeping you from living the life you want. My goal is to help you develop practical coping skills, increase self-awareness, and build confidence so you can move beyond simply surviving life's challenges and begin thriving with greater resilience and purpose.
