Frequently asked

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families who are facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, complex trauma, addiction, and behavioral concerns in children and teens. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or your child, my goal is to provide compassionate, individualized care that meets your unique needs.
I believe therapy should be collaborative, practical, and tailored to each person or family I work with. I draw from several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, insight-oriented psychotherapy, and play therapy techniques. Together, we'll identify your goals, build on your strengths, and develop strategies that create meaningful, lasting change.
Working with children often means working closely with parents and caregivers as well. I enjoy helping families strengthen communication, improve relationships, and develop effective strategies for managing challenging behaviors. My experience in residential treatment, intensive in-home counseling, and school-based services has given me a strong understanding of how family, school, and community all play important roles in a child's emotional well-being.
Play is one of the primary ways children communicate their thoughts and emotions. I incorporate play therapy techniques to help children express themselves, develop healthy coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and work through difficult experiences in a way that feels natural and developmentally appropriate. I also have a special interest in play therapy and plan to pursue certification as a Registered Play Therapist® to further expand my expertise.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brought you or your child to therapy, review your concerns, explore your goals, and talk about what you hope to achieve through counseling. From there, we'll work together to develop a personalized treatment plan that supports your growth and helps you move toward lasting positive change.
