About

Your emotional health is just as important as your mental health. I am a positive psychology theorist who believes in holistic wellness for bringing balance to the human mind, body, emotions, and spirit.

Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a mental health professional. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology and master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from The City University of New York. I received my PhD from the accredited Capella University in Advanced Human Behaviors, where I studied Resilience Processing. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Virginia and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Maryland.

The scope of my practice includes adults and children, individuals, couples, and families. My counseling style is a multifaceted approach for enhancing wellness. I specialize in trauma work, and I am trained in EMDR therapy. I have worked with individuals who experience depression, anger, anxiety, trauma, and bereavement. I am currently EMDR Trained. I use a wide array of therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive-Behavioral, Family-Structured, Motivational Interviewing, and always Person-Centered for counseling people with Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and those who have difficulty managing their emotions. I am an advocate and volunteer who has lived abroad as an aid worker and consultant to orphanages and children’s programs. I have been married for over 25 years. I have 2 college students. I enjoy the arts in music and dance, and spending time in nature. I am highly motivated towards self-development and personal growth.

Frequently asked

I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing a variety of mental health concerns. Throughout my career, I have helped individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, PTSD, and difficulties with emotional regulation. Whether you're seeking support for a recent life challenge or a long-standing concern, I tailor treatment to your unique needs and goals while focusing on your overall well-being.
I believe true wellness comes from caring for the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and spirit. My therapeutic approach is holistic, person-centered, and strengths-based, helping clients recognize their resilience while developing practical tools for lasting change. I integrate evidence-based techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems approaches to create an individualized treatment plan that supports healing and personal growth.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help people process distressing or traumatic experiences that continue to affect their daily lives. Rather than simply talking about the past, EMDR helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they become less emotionally overwhelming. I use EMDR as part of a comprehensive treatment plan when it is appropriate for a client's needs, helping individuals move toward healing while developing healthier coping strategies.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your personal history, and identify the goals you'd like to achieve. I strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable, respected, and supported so you can openly share your experiences at your own pace. Together, we'll develop a treatment plan that reflects your strengths, values, and unique path toward healing.
A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. I believe you should feel comfortable speaking openly and know that you are being heard without judgment. My goal is to create a compassionate, collaborative environment where you feel safe exploring life's challenges while developing the confidence, resilience, and skills needed to improve your emotional health and overall quality of life.
