About

I originally grew up in Southern Illinois and attended college at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale (Go Salukis!). Being interested in psychology and philosophy, I decided to continue my journey to help folks in need to graduate and pursue my Ph.D. at the University of Mississippi.

While there, I focused on face-to-face work as a functional behaviorist utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), with a specialty focused on substance use, trauma, and anxiety. I strongly believe that actions and difficulties in the everyday world come from the struggles that are unseen by other people.

As a therapist, my goal is to provide a welcoming, warm, and empowering environment. I especially enjoy working with and supporting LGBTQ+ clients, folks who are new to therapy, and people navigating identity. Additionally, I'm passionate about supporting men on their mental and emotional journey.

Dr. Pineau works out of our Stevenson office.

Frequently asked

I work with adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, trauma, substance use concerns, life transitions, identity exploration, and emotional challenges. I especially enjoy working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals who are new to therapy, and men who are looking to improve their mental and emotional well-being. My goal is to create a welcoming space where you feel comfortable being yourself.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we'll develop practical skills that help you manage challenges while creating a life that aligns with your values.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if it's your first time. My goal is to make the process as comfortable and approachable as possible. During our first session, we'll talk about what brought you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. There's no pressure to have everything figured out—we'll move at a pace that feels right for you.
Yes. Many people seek therapy because they're navigating questions about identity, struggling with anxiety, or working through the effects of past trauma. Together, we'll explore how these experiences are impacting your life, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical strategies to help you build resilience, increase self-understanding, and move forward with confidence.
I believe that many of the struggles people face on the outside are connected to experiences and challenges that others cannot see. My role is to provide a warm, supportive, and empowering environment where you feel safe exploring those experiences without judgment. Together, we'll focus on building insight, strengthening coping skills, and creating meaningful, lasting change that supports the life you want to live.
