Based in Knoxville, TN, the program uses a unique methodology that incorporates choreography techniques tailored to address balance, focus, sensory, processing, cognitive, and other issues that may hinder students from participating in regular dance classes. Their dance numbers are choreographed with additional time between movements and adapted for students with physical limitations, including those who use wheelchairs, braces, or gait trainers. The program is designed to serve non-typical students of all ages, from 3 to 46, and offers opportunities for peer helpers and siblings to participate as well. Sunshine Ambassadors also provides training and resources for individuals to start their own dance classes in their communities, known as the 'Sunshine In a Box' Starter Kit.
