The organization was founded in the 1970s by a small group of parents and friends on the southeast side of Chicago who recognized the need for engagement for family members with IDDs. Today, South Chicago Parents and Friends assists over 500 individuals and their families in the south and southeast sides of Chicago and its southern suburbs. They have CARF Accreditation, demonstrating their commitment to improving efficiency, fiscal health, and service delivery by creating a foundation of consumer satisfaction. The organization has multiple locations, including the Cap Center in Chicago, IL, the Dolton Center in Dolton, IL, and the Reynolds Center in Chicago, IL.
