PCIT can help children between 1-7 years old who exhibit challenging behaviors such as aggression, biting, defiance, and hyperactivity. The therapy is done in two phases, with the first phase focusing on teaching caregivers play therapy skills to help the child manage their emotions and build frustration tolerance. The second phase involves teaching caregivers how to give instructions that young children are likely to follow and implementing a technique that allows caregivers to respond consistently and predictably to child non-compliance. Palmetto State PCIT also offers customized therapy at home using TeleHealth technology, which allows the caregiver and child to participate in therapy in the child's natural home environment. This can be even more effective than in an office setting, as the therapist can see the child's behavior issues at home sooner and intervene immediately. With flexible appointment times available, including early morning, lunch breaks, and evening sessions, Palmetto State PCIT aims to provide convenient and accessible therapy for families in need.
