Laurel Westerman

She completed the Couple and Family Therapy master’s program at Kansas State University and received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Laurel is a member of the National Association for Play Therapy (APT) and utilizes child-centered play therapy (CCPT) when working with children. Her approach draws from emotion-focused therapy (EFT), parts work, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy in tandem with creative expressions sand tray. She believes in empowering individuals, children, and couples to author new stories of 'us' through collaborative, trauma-informed, intersectional work addressing systems of power and oppression. Whether it's a relationship or individual stories, Laurel's approach aims to promote healing and reflection. At Dignity in Healing Collective, Laurel and other practitioners work collaboratively to create personalized treatment plans that honor both traditional wisdom and contemporary medical advances. This unified approach amplifies the body's natural healing capabilities while supporting overall wellbeing. The collective's vision is to create a sanctuary where all people collaborate in their healing – mind, body, and spirit – and are empowered to engage in their own health and wellness to live life to the fullest.
