About
Since its inception in 1990, the FDOA has promoted accessible recreation to persons with disabilities as well as the general public through hands-on recreation programs, newsletters, and community outreach and education. They have also assisted in compliance of the Americans with Disabilities Act and worked closely with state, local, and private organizations to develop, enhance, and/or support recreation opportunities for people with disabilities across Florida and beyond. The FDOA's mission is to provide accessible and inclusive recreation opportunities for people with disabilities, and they have been instrumental in many successful projects and programs, including accessibility training for wildlife refuge managers, designing and implementing mobility-impaired hunting programs, and consulting on ADA compliance and self-evaluation programs.
