Many of their campers are diagnosed with Aspergers, NLD/NVLD, HF-ASD, or are just 'Quirky'. Located on 400 beautiful, wooded acres, perched on the shores of Miller Pond, in Strafford, Vermont, Camp Akeela provides a thoughtfully crafted set of traditional camp activities that make summer camp unforgettable, while embracing the necessities of their community. Their unique approach to growth and development focuses on social skills development, executive functioning, self-advocacy, independence building, flexibility & adaptability, and authentic friendships. Camp Akeela serves children with Autism (Level 1, formerly known as Asperger’s Syndrome), NVLD, ADD or ADHD, and similar neurodivergent profiles. They offer a 3-week neurodiverse sleep-away camp in the Green Mountains of Vermont, as well as Beyond Akeela, a program for 10th – 12th graders that prepares them for life after high school, and Family Camp, a one-week camp in mid-August for the entire family.
