Based in Hawai‘i and growing across the country, they empower communities to care for one another, uplifting mothers to support their children and strengthen the entire family. Their signature program, the Surf Swap, brings moms together to surf, connect, and share childcare through groups throughout Hawai‘i and the US. They also expand their impact through Beyond the Swap, Rising Tides, and Coastal Care Initiative, all rooted in one goal: supporting moms and strengthening families. Founded in 2018 as a grassroots initiative between friends in Kailua, Hawaii, Surfing Moms officially launched as a national nonprofit in 2021. With 28 local groups across the United States, they transform small, local ripples into powerful waves of care—offering place-based, surf-inspired programming that is equitable, inclusive, and rooted in community.
