Vernitra Dobbins

I am licensed and nationally certified counselor in Alabama with 6 years of professional work experience. I have experience in providing direct and indirect mental health and behavioral counseling for children, teens and adults with a variety of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, community violence, parenting issues, motivation, self esteem, and confidence, career difficulties, & coping with life changes. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. Although I am open-minded and much of my clinical experience includes working with African-American or Black youth, families, and adults in underserved communities given my firsthand experience, I am multiculturally competent and eager to learn more about various cultures. I have over 10 years of experience in working with diverse children and families in a variety of settings such as private and public school, government training facilities and private practice. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. My therapy style and approach draws influence from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Individual Psychology, Family Systems, and Mindfulness.
