I’m a “career guy.” I have many years of both occupational selection as well as employment counseling experience to share with clients! I am licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, USA, since 2001. Prior to licensing, I was self-employed in the Executive Search industry creating & managing my own firm named “Agency of the Year” in NC . I have years of work as an Outplacement Consultant for the largest outplacement firm in the US. I was a Rehabilitation Counselor for more than 10 years providing career services to clients with physical, mental, and/or developmental challenges. I am comfortable working with clients who may have “co-occurring” mental health diagnoses along with work & occupational concerns. In 2022, I contributed to a newly published career counseling textbook. I served as Advocacy Chair for the Licensed Clinical Counselor Association of NC during 2022 & 2023 and Chaired the NC Professional Association Council in 2023, consisting of Licensed Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Marriage & Family Therapists, & Licensed Addictions professionals. I received the Licensed Counselors Association “Outstanding Advocacy Award” in 2023 “for excellence in clinical mental health advocacy efforts that advance the counseling profession and the communities served.” Earlier, I served as President of the NC Career Development Association, NC Rehabilitation Association, and NC Association of Personnel Consultants. I remain a Certified Personnel Consultant and I have been a Master Career Counselor through the National Career Development Association. I have written a weekly column for a New York Times regional newspaper known as “Career Talk.” You are the expert of your story and have strengths that will support you in overcoming challenges you may currently face. My approach to counseling is from a career perspective while coaching clients to make good choices. Taking the first step to sign up for counseling requires courage and I look forward to meeting you!
