Joelle Doherty

I’m Joelle Doherty, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I have been licensed and working in the mental health and substance abuse field for twenty years. I have worked in a range of environments, including community mental health centers, partial hospitalization programs, inpatient psychiatric units, and college counseling centers. I earned my B.S. at the University of Florida, with a major in Psychology, and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University, in Boston. I believe that everyone can use an objective and non-judgmental person to listen to them and assist them in working through issues and patterns that often keep us from feeling happy and satisfied with our lives. I provide a positive and supportive environment and utilize strategies from different modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral, client-centered, supportive, and Mindfulness interventions. My outlook as a counselor is strength-based, and I believe in building on one’s strengths, while recognizing one’s weaknesses, in order to reach one’s full potential.
