Dennis Kuik

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have 30 years of experience in a variety of positions where I have gained insight and perspective on the difficult issues we all deal with each and every day. Through the years I have realized my passion is to help others build on their strengths so they can find a life with purpose and meaning. My specialties include: depression, anxiety, PTSD, schizophrenia, mood disorders, panic disorders, relationships, stress, and chronic pain. My philosophy is to meet the person where they are at instead of focusing on a diagnosis. Each person is unique, full of promise with many strengths. It is my hope that I can help each person use those strengths in their life effectively so they can not just cope with their difficulties, but flourish. I also have a lot of experience in working with those that have chronic pain. This can be a very difficult issue, but I take a Cognitive behavioral approach to help you get your life back. I believe the therapeutic alliance is the most important aspect in therapy. I develop this alliance by listening with compassion and patience. I believe each person can build upon their strengths to be the best they can be. I use the following treatment modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, trauma focused therapy, and Mindfulness cognitive behavioral therapy. Each person is unique, so a variety of these therapies can be used in each situation. It takes courage to want to change. I hope I can get the chance to help you reach your goals.
