About
The Mental and Social Health Center provides counseling and other clinical social work services for people with mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as for people who are interested in self-improvement, but may not have a mental health condition. They approach counseling holistically, working to address practical issues while approaching in-depth psychological issues when appropriate. In addition to conventional counseling approaches, they provide families with behavioral strategies, teach social skills, do advocacy, and teach self-advocacy skills. One of their areas of specialization is in working with clients with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). They have first-hand experience dealing with the challenges of ASD, both from the perspective of parenting and from the perspective of living as a person on the autism spectrum. They also have a substantial background in working with ASD, including one of them being trained in positive behavior supports and having background in applied behavior analysis (ABA).
