The Arc of Haywood County, Inc., is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing residential services to adult individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc of Haywood County was incorporated on January 9, 1976 and is committed to its mission of helping individuals identify their hopes and dreams and providing the services and support to pursue them. In 1978, The Arc of Haywood County initiated the first apartment program in North Carolina for adult individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, along with a program in Durham. The Arc of Haywood County is a local affiliate of The Arc of The United States and The Arc of North Carolina.
