Founded by Andrew Devitt in 2010, the practice began as a single tutor working with individual families in home-based ABA programs. Recognizing the effectiveness of outdoor activities in conjunction with instruction, Andrew transitioned to teaching action sports lessons in local skateparks. This multi-faceted approach enhanced both the experience and outcome for his students. As the practice grew, Andrew and his team moved to a larger facility, outfitting it with amenities such as a reception area, skate park, basketball court, music & drama stage, art studio, and classroom. Sport-Social also provides a home for FEAT, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families affected by Autism, and Autism Building Blocks, an ABA-based clinic. The practice's mission is to serve the social and behavioral needs of all kids, with a learner-oriented focus guiding their efforts. Despite facing adversity, including an arson attack in 2013, Sport-Social has continued to grow and expand, winning a $100,000 grant in 2014 through Project VESTO. Today, Sport-Social offers a range of programs, including private lessons, group classes, camps, and vocational training, all designed to help children and teens develop important social, communication, and behavioral skills.
