Special Olympics Washington – Skagit County is a community-based program that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Established in 1980, the program offers a variety of local Special Olympics Sports, including Bowling, Volleyball, Pickleball, Basketball, Cycling, Soccer, Swimming, Bucket Buddies & Walking Club, and Golf. Their mission is to provide opportunities for athletes to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. The program relies on volunteers, including friends and families, to coach and support their sports programs.
