Special Olympics Illinois (SOILL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing athletes of all ages and abilities with an opportunity to participate in competitive sports. SOILL has a presence in all 102 counties in the state of Illinois, providing athletes with a range of local and statewide competitions. Region K Carbondale is one of 11 geographic Regions that make up the SOILL organization, each with its own Region Team to implement programming and support athletes at the local level. Region Team members are responsible for sports programming, fundraising campaigns, outreach, communication, and education initiatives. With support from the Region Team, athletes can compete at their Regional Qualifier and advance to the State Championships if they earn a gold medal.
