Special Olympics Illinois (SOILL) is the leading provider of sports programming and outreach services for athletes in every corner of the state. SOILL is organized into 11 geographic Regions and serves 102 counties in Illinois. Region I provides programming for people in Champaign, Christian, Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Jasper, Logan, Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, Shelby and Vermilion counties. Region I’s team members are responsible for sports programming, fundraising campaigns, outreach, communication, and education initiatives. At the Region Qualifier, athletes compete for the chance to advance to the next level of competition, which in most cases is the State Championships. Region I is led by a Region Director who oversees all aspects of region programming. Special Olympics Illinois – Region I Mattoon provides a unique opportunity for athletes to be part of a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
