Special Olympics DC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities or closely related developmental disabilities. Our mission is to give these individuals the opportunity to develop physical fitness, show courage, experience joy and share their gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and their communities. We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome to join, regardless of their abilities. We look forward to creating lasting memories and encouraging physical and emotional growth in our athletes.
