Special Olympics Arkansas – North Little Rock

Special Olympics Arkansas – North Little Rock is a non-profit organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Their mission is to offer individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. The program is supported by individual donations, private and corporate sponsorships, state appropriations, grants, and special fundraising events. They offer training, equipment, and competition to their athletes free of charge. Special Olympics Arkansas has grown to a competition program for athletes wanting to train and compete in various sports, including track and field, swimming, softball, volleyball, unified flag football, powerlifting, bocce, cycling, basketball, bowling, and floor hockey. Their goal is to properly train their special athletes by training their coaches first. Training workshops are held each year, in all areas of the state.
