At Special Olympics Alaska – Mat-Su Valley, we empower people with intellectual disabilities to become accepted and valued members of their communities, by providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports. Our goal is to help individuals with intellectual disabilities develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. We strive to create a safe and inclusive environment that allows our athletes to reach their full potential and attain their goals. Our volunteers and supporters are dedicated to providing an opportunity for individuals with intellectual disabilities to gain self-confidence, build friendships and enjoy a sense of personal accomplishment. We are committed to helping our athletes reach their goals and make their dreams a reality.
