Southeastern Minnesota Center for Independent Living

Southeastern Minnesota Center for Independent Living (SEMCIL) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization created by people with disabilities for people with disabilities to establish civil rights and individual control. Founded in 1981, SEMCIL continues a decades-long commitment as a Center for Independent Living (CIL) to address the needs and barriers experienced by people with disabilities. The organization provides services and supports to people of all disabilities at any age in the southeastern Minnesota counties of Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona. SEMCIL's mission is to elevate the voices and champion the aspirations of people with disabilities by partnering with individuals to meet their goals, educate their communities, and influence impactful change. Their vision is a world that respects disability as part of the human experience where dignity is the foundation of all systems, and communities are universally inclusive, and people of all abilities hold power and influence through equitable opportunity and choice.
