The South Carolina Respite Coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding quality respite options throughout the lifespan for South Carolina families caring for a loved one with special needs. We strive to educate the public about the need for respite care, develop strategies to provide and improve respite services, and provide support for families and providers through coordinated information resources. With the support of over 30 organizations, the SC Respite Coalition was incorporated in the summer of 2001 and is the only entity in the state committed to addressing the needs of respite across the lifespan. Our lead organizations include Family Connection of SC, Inc., the Center for Disability Resources at the USC School of Medicine, and the Institute for Families in Society at the University of South Carolina.
