Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Dr. Marfori earned her B.A. from the University of South Carolina and her Psy. D. from George Washington University, where she was dually enrolled in GWU's LGBTQ Health and Policy Program. With a strong educational background in psychodynamic theory and experience working with diverse populations, including LGBTQIA+ community members, BIPOC patients, and trauma survivors, Dr. Marfori provides care that is empathetic and personalized. She approaches her work from a place of understanding, having experienced trauma and chronic pain herself. Dr. Marfori's approach combines various therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Based Approaches, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), to help clients transcend pain and live fulfilling lives. She is passionate about understanding personal identity and the way race, culture, class, and sexuality intersect to form an individual's experiences and beliefs. Dr. Marfori's practice, Bold Expressions Therapy, offers a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and to work towards their goals. With her service dog, Arrow, by her side, Dr. Marfori provides a unique and comforting experience for her clients. She is licensed to practice in Washington, DC, and has permissions to practice in other states through the Psypact License.
