Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic experiences through horse-related activities to individuals with physical, mental, neurological disabilities, or those considered at-risk. With a main office based in Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Fentress, Knox, Loudon, Jefferson, Monroe, McMinn, Roane, and Sevier counties, STAR works with people ages 4 and up, offering personalized achievement goals to those in need. In 2019, STAR served 245 individuals with a total of 16,780 hours of Equine Assisted Services. Our mission is to help those in our communities realize their potential and reach their goals, providing a safe and encouraging environment to do so.
