The San Diego Regional Center is a private, non-profit 501 c (3) organization that contracts with California to provide services outlined in the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act. They serve over 48,000 individuals and their families in San Diego and Imperial counties with a staff of 1,000 and a combined budget of $1.2 billion annually. The center's mission is to serve and empower persons with developmental disabilities and their families to achieve their goals with community partners. They provide a variety of services to persons with developmental disabilities and their families, based on the client's individual needs, to maximize their independence, full potential, and quality of life. Any San Diego or Imperial County resident believed to have a developmental disability may apply for services.
