As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a federal and state-designated center for independent living, SAILS provides programs and services to persons with disabilities, including advocacy, independent living skills, information and referrals, peer support, and transition. Their Basic IL program is funded by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. SAILS also offers rehabilitation technology through their Outsourcing program, which provides items such as ramps, wheelchairs, vehicle modifications, prosthetics, hearing aids, vision aids, and other products and services to assist individuals with significant disabilities in living a more independent life. With a focus on empowering individuals with significant disabilities through advocacy, SAILS aims to advance their opportunities to succeed and be more independent in their daily lives. Their services are provided through their 28-county coverage area, and they work to make San Antonio and the surrounding counties a better place to live, work, and play for people with disabilities.
