At Parkwood Developmental Center, we are a privately-owned Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disability (ICF/IID). Our staff is specially trained to provide clients with daily needs and also to encourage independence. We offer a wide range of stimulation for each client, such as physical therapy, medical and psychiatric services, nursing services, social services, parent training, music, recreational therapy and sensorimotor development. We also encourage clients to participate in community and recreational activities, while our parents and guardians can help develop plans of care and maintain contact with their loved one through letters, phone calls, visits in the facility, and therapeutic home visits. Our campus comprises two buildings – a main building for clients with severe to profound Intellectual Disability, and an annex for those with moderate Intellectual Disability. We focus on teaching daily living skills and vocational training, and coordinate with local businesses for job placement and coaching.
