Founded in 2012 by Annie Klark and Katie Mann as 4th Wall Theatre Company in Metro Detroit, the company expanded in 2020 to provide arts opportunities to students across the United States, thus becoming OpenSpot Theatre. Their mission is to provide a fun, creative, and inclusive arts experience that is accessible to all people. Through their rehearsal and performance process, students will experience personal affirmation, empowerment, and build important skills. OpenSpot Theatre's programs promote teamwork, belonging, and social skills, and are led by trained theatre professionals and American Sign Language interpreters. Their unique approach includes the three pillars of theatre (singing, acting, and dancing), theatre games/activities, and other concepts that students can carry with them beyond the stage. OpenSpot Theatre brings all their own props, sound equipment, and ideas to provide fun learning opportunities, and they travel to various venues to provide their services.
