With over 30 years of experience working with autistic and other neurodivergent individuals, Dr. Eckerd has developed a specialty in treating and diagnosing undiagnosed adults, especially women who have been overlooked and misunderstood. She offers individualized treatment approaches using tools such as cognitive therapy, strategic coaching, EMDR, meditation, and psychoeducation to address social issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, flexibility, and executive functions. Dr. Eckerd's goal is to help autistic individuals with self-acceptance as neurodivergent and to help them navigate achieving their goals. She is a licensed psychologist with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the City University of NY and has written for parenting, mental health, educational, and professional journals, websites, and magazines. Dr. Eckerd serves on the Clinical Advisory Group of the Asperger's Autism Network (AANE.org) and is on the Board of Directors of NeuroClastic.org, an autistic nonprofit that provides education, opportunities, and resources for autistic individuals. She is a prolific writer and lecturer, having written articles for the Journal of Health Services Psychology and presented workshops on autism at conferences such as the 'Learning and the Brain' conference co-sponsored by Harvard, MIT, Johns Hopkins, and Tufts.
