Their search for effective treatment led them to include the use of Sand Play Therapy, EMDR, yoga and therapeutic group work with their clients. This was in response to the expanding body of research which illustrated that the mind-body connection was integral to the healing of mental health issues. In 2004, they expanded their practice to include like-minded affiliate clinicians and moved to a larger facility in Eatontown, NJ. Mary Pat and Gretchen designed the Lighthouse Sand Play Training program in 2004 and are approved providers for Continuing Education for the NJ Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative and the National Board of Certified Counselors. To date, Lighthouse has trained over 4000 clinicians both nationally and internationally. Gretchen and Lighthouse affiliates are EMDR trained and have Certificates in Sand Play Therapy. All clinicians offer in person sessions as well telehealth and most are Certified Clinical Supervisors for Social Work/Counseling licensees. Life coaching is available for clients globally, and In the fall 2024, KAP will be offered on site.
