Lexington, Chapter of The Arc New York

Lexington, Chapter of The Arc New York, is a provider of supports and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, mental illness, cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, epilepsy, and traumatic brain injuries. They serve approximately 1,300 children and adults in Fulton, Albany, and Schoharie Counties. Lexington's person-first approach emphasizes each person's needs, wants, and desires rather than their disability. They offer a range of programs and services, including residential, clinical, family, and community supports, as well as employment and social enrichment opportunities. Lexington is committed to fostering an environment where the people they support are respected, valued, and play an integral role in their day-to-day operations. They continuously monitor and evaluate their services to enhance existing programs and develop new ones to meet the needs of the individuals they support. Lexington has implemented innovative programs, such as the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts and Transitions, which provide accessible art programs and prepare teens and young adults with autism and learning differences for college, careers, and life. As a member of The Arc New York, Lexington is part of a network of 35 local chapters that collectively support over 60,000 people with disabilities and their families across New York state.
