Kindering is a non-profit organization based in Bothell, Washington, founded in 1962 by five Bellevue-area mothers of children with disabilities. We are the largest early intervention center in Washington State, one of the three largest centers in the nation, and the most comprehensive. Our mission is to provide superior, individualized, family-centered services for children who are disabled, medically fragile, or vulnerable because of abuse or neglect. We help children develop their maximum potential, engender hope, and promote community understanding. At Kindering, infants and toddlers ages birth to three receive critical physical occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, feeding therapy, special education and other early intervention programming. We also provide additional support to families with our comprehensive programs such as support groups, kinship and foster care programming, parent education and a true sense of community for those raising children with special needs. Our services have been in high-demand over the last five years, with enrollment in our early intervention program more than doubling. We believe that infants cannot wait and that birth to three years of age is a critical period for development; early intervention can change a child’s life. You can help us ensure that the children and families who come to Kindering for help get the important special education and therapies they need today.
