Kindering is the only early intervention center dedicated to serving urban East King County since its inception in 1962. Founded by five Bellevue-area mothers of children with disabilities, Kindering is the largest intervention center in Washington State, one of the three largest centers in the nation, and notably the most comprehensive. Our mission is to provide superior, individualized, family-centered services for children who are disabled, medically fragile, or vulnerable because of abuse or neglect. At Kindering, infants and toddlers ages birth to three receive critical physical occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, feeding therapy, special education and other early intervention programming, aimed at helping children with special needs reach developmental milestones. In addition, we support the entire family with comprehensive programs such as support groups, kinship and foster care programming, parent education, and a true sense of community. Over the last five years, enrollment in our early intervention program has more than doubled, and demand for our services is growing. We need your help to ensure that the children and families who come to Kindering for help get the important special education and therapies they need today.
