At the Georgia Department of Public Health | East Central Health District | Wilkes County Health District, our mission is to ensure that all Georgia’s children stay in the best possible health. We strive to achieve this goal by identifying children from birth to age 5 who are at risk for poor health and/or developmental outcomes, and linking them to appropriate health, developmental, and family-support services. Our Children 1st program offers no-cost, in-home visits to arrange help for families, while respecting their right to voluntary participation and allowing them to withdraw at any time. We work with public, private, and community resources to make sure that every child’s health and wellbeing is our top priority.
