The Georgia Department of Public Health, East Central Health District, and Columbia County Health Department are dedicated to helping children from birth to age 5 stay in the best possible health. Through Children 1st, the Department provides no-cost, in-home visits to identify children at risk for poor health or developmental outcomes, and link them with appropriate health, developmental, and family-support services. Working with public, private, and community resources, Children 1st assists families in arranging the help they need. Participation is voluntary and parents can withdraw at any time.
