Friends Or Relatives With Autism And Related Disabilities (FORWARD) is a nonprofit developer that is dedicated to building an affordable and supportive housing community for adults with autism and related disabilities. Our mission is to create an environment where individuals can thrive, and our new project, FORWARD at the Rock, is located in Dennis, MA on 4.6 acres of town-owned land. The community will provide housing for eight adults (age 22 and up) with autism and all units will be “extremely” affordable, with resident income at less than 30% of the average median income (AMI) for Barnstable County. Residents will be eligible for Department of Developmental Services (DDS) living and service supports, and FORWARD has partnered with Cape Abilities to manage the homes and provide around-the-clock staffing. Funding for this project has been made possible by the Commonwealth, the Dennis, Barnstable, Yarmouth, and Chatham Community Preservation Committees, generous individual and foundation support, and an institutional mortgage. At FORWARD, we are committed to providing individuals living with autism and related disabilities with the opportunity to thrive in a safe and healthy environment.
