FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing a space for individuals with disabilities to enrich their lives through creative arts and recreational therapies. Founded in 1951, they work with clients of all ages, introducing them to new activities and experiences, helping them gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and showing them new ways to communicate how they feel. FAR offers a wide range of programming options drawing from the fields of art therapy, music therapy, and recreational therapy to provide clients with the approach that best meets their needs. Their therapists awaken clients' interests and skillfully nurture them to reach their full potential as individuals, as teammates, as family members, and as members of the larger community. FAR's offices are located at First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, MI, and they serve 1,600 members of their community with disabilities.
