The organization delivers programs in Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco counties, reaching clients in underserved communities in the Bay Area. Family Support Services works with families who have children with mental or physical disabilities, substance exposure, medical fragility, or HIV+, as well as families where grandparents or other relatives have taken on caregiving responsibilities. The organization's mission is to nurture children, youth, and caregivers to keep families healthy and intact. With a focus on supporting families of color, single-parent households, and those living in poverty, Family Support Services serves over 2,000 Bay Area clients annually.
Services & specialties
Respite/Child Care
Provides intermittent short-term care to parents and other caregivers caring for children with special needs in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and other Bay Area counties.
Family Preservation Program
Offers intensive home-based services to San Francisco and Alameda County families whose children are at imminent risk of removal from their homes.
Kinship Support Services
Provides an array of services to grandparents and other relative caregivers in Alameda County who are caring for kin children that are not in the care of their biological parents.
Growing Up Strong
Works with families of children experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges at home or school, or who have experienced trauma due to family or community violence.
Kinship Youth Program
Serves children and youth ages 8-18 who are in the care of a kinship caregiver through an enriched comprehensive year-round program.
