Dream Rider Equestrian Therapy provides physical and emotional support to children with autism through the use of therapy ponies, community volunteers, and music. Our program promotes both verbal and non-verbal communication, and has been proven to improve school performance. Our team works to help riders relax and open up to communication with people by using the horse as a go-between. By having the horse and rider move to a rhythmic beat, it helps to organize the child’s brain and provides an empowering experience. We strive to help our riders build a sympathy between the mind of the nonverbal autistic child and the horse, as they think alike in pictures.
