Dr. Michele Akers-Woody is a psychologist and coach who helps patients understand how the past has influenced the present, teach them effective coping skills for managing their current crisis(es), assist them at setting goals for the future, and serve as a guide, cheerleader, and coach throughout the process towards achieving those goals. With almost 30 years of diverse experience, Dr. Michele is passionate about helping others achieve overall well-being. She combines brief, short-term therapy with coaching, using an eclectic approach of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. Dr. Michele's practice is unique, offering individual therapeutic coaching sessions via phone, as well as trainings, workshops, and speaking engagements on mental health topics. She is licensed to practice in South Carolina and California, and has experience working with all age ranges from toddler to geriatric.
