The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation is proud to honor the memory of Christopher Franklin Carroll, a dedicated downtown preservationist, developer, and fourth-generation resident of the El Presidio neighborhood who passed away on July 8, 2013. Chris was a Distinguished Professor of English and a Chaucer scholar at the University of Arizona, where he taught an array of literature, ranging from the classics to the contemporary. His passion for historic preservation and commitment to the El Presidio neighborhood and downtown Tucson saw him serve on numerous boards, committees, and advisory groups over the years. His crowning achievement was the creation of Christopher Franklin Carroll Centennial Park, which now bears his name and celebrates his legacy.
