The Center for Applied Rehabilitation Technology (CART) opened in 1989 at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center (RLANRC) to provide assistive technology to individuals with physical disabilities. We empower these individuals to lead more independent lives and participate more fully in everyday activities at home, school and work. RLANRC is a world-renowned hospital that provides specialty rehabilitative care to those who have suffered from spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological disorders. Each year, RLANRC cares for 4,000 inpatients and services 71,000 outpatient visits. It has consistently ranked as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” in Rehabilitation by U.S. News and World Report.
