As one of New York State's 41 independent living centers, the Center's primary purpose is to promote and facilitate independence in everyday living for persons with a disabling condition. Located in Oneonta, NY, the Center provides a variety of programs and services to assist and support individuals with disabilities in the community. Their services include benefits advisement, employment readiness, employment assistance, independent living skills training, assistance in securing housing, transportation, education, accommodations, service coordination, transition services to students with disabilities exiting high school, and transition services to institutionalized individuals who wish to live in the community. The Center's philosophy is to provide individuals with opportunities to develop the skills and resources necessary for living as independently as possible in the community.
