The organization was created by committed parents and community leaders as a nonprofit organization in 1993. FACT's mission is to improve the quality of life for autistic individuals and their families in Hampton Roads. They offer a variety of programs, including social, recreational, and vocational programs that enhance social, communication, and life skills and promote community integration. FACT's programs are adaptable for any ability level or age and are led by knowledgeable, experienced staff and augmented by the participation of non-disabled peers. The organization serves more than 400 individuals with autism each year, hosting three seasonal camps, four sports leagues, three different ongoing monthly social programs, a variety of leisure programs, and five Family Fun Days each year.

Social Programs
FACT offers monthly outings for teens and young adults with autism, providing opportunities for peer companionship and community integration.
Camps
FACT hosts fun-filled, action-packed day camps in Virginia Beach for seven one-week sessions each summer, as well as a weeklong session during spring and winter breaks.
Sports Programs
FACT hosts sports leagues that provide young athletes with autism opportunities to shine, while also improving their health and developing social skills.
Leisure Programs
FACT offers leisure activities that help individuals on the autism spectrum develop important life skills, increase independence, and free their minds from stress.
Family Fun Days
FACT hosts five Family Fun Days each year, providing opportunities for families to spend quality time together and engage in activities that promote community integration.
Employment Support
FACT's Employment Specialist helps autistic employees build skills, pursue their passions, and thrive in the workplace through the HERO (Helping Employees Reach Outcomes) program.
